Abdominal Bracing
For Back Pain & Core Strength

Do you have a weak core and/or low back pain?
The following exercise might help.

Abdominal Bracing is a technique that stabilizes your spine (and other pain producing tissue(s) around the spine) by “locking the rib cage to the pelvis”.

The Technique: Without bending forward, contract your glutes (as if you are holding in a bowel movement) and your abdominals (as if you are going to be whacked in the belly).  Place one hand over your abdominals to feel them tighten.
This action will make lower back muscles contract/stabilize the spine as well (place your other hand over them to feel them tighten).
Be sure to perform this bracing technique when you are weight training and/or with your rehab.
