Services

Endurance on 8th offers the following services:

Chiropractic

Chiropractic draws on modern scientific knowledge and techniques, balanced with a philosophy of natural healing.  Doctors of Chiropractic are primary care/primary contact health professionals.  Chiropractors focus on the spine in relation to the total body and specialize in the understanding and treatment of its component bone structures, muscles and nerves.  No referral is necessary to consult a chiropractor.

As holistic practitioners, chiropractors believe in treating the whole individual, practicing natural healing without drugs or invasive surgeries.

Central to the treatment is the chiropractic adjustment, a gentle, directed pressure that restores the spine’s ability to function.  Doctors of Chiropractic recognize that dynamics exist between lifestyle, environment and health.  In addition to clinical treatment, your chiropractor can be a good source of information on beneficial exercise and nutrition.

Our practitioners use individualized treatment strategies. Treatment plans may include a combination of the following techniques:

  • SPINAL MANIPULATION (adjustment)
  • MOBILIZATION
  • ACTIVE RELEASE THERAPY (ART)
  • MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY
  • ELECTROTHERAPY (IFC, TENS, Ultrasound)
  • EXERCISE PERSCRIPTION

Physiotherapy

What do Physiotherapists do?

Physiotherapists provide assessment, treatment and education for a wide range of health problems to ensure you make the most of your lifestyle. Physiotherapists can recommend ways to treat problems with your muscles, bones and joints, circulatory, respiratory or nervous system.
Every year physiotherapists assist thousands of Canadians of all ages, from babies to the elderly, in preventing and managing the effects of congenital diseases, illness, chronic diseases, neurological conditions, accidents and the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Physiotherapy – How it Works

Physiotherapy involves using a variety of techniques to help your muscles, joints, heart and lungs work to their potential. Physiotherapists work in partnership with individuals of all ages to break down barriers impeding physical function. Physiotherapy can help individuals living with congenital or chronic diseases or other debilitating conditions and can assist those recovering from: surgery; illness; neurological conditions such as stroke; injury; industrial or motor vehicle accidents; or age related conditions. The practice of physiotherapy is drug-free.
Fundamental to a physiotherapists' approach is an appreciation of your role in your own care. Physiotherapists work with you to integrate your care into your lifestyle. They are skilled in providing treatment, preventative advice, rehabilitation and care for people with long-term or terminal illness and will develop a full treatment plan to suit your unique needs.

Massage Therapy

All of our massage practitioners are fully licensed registered therapists.

What is massage therapy?

The therapeutic use of massage affects all systems of the body, most particularly circulatory, muscular, fascial and nervous systems.Massage therapy is also effective in the control of pain - both chronic and acute, in stress reduction and in creating a sense of relaxation and well being.A trained massage therapist focuses on the normalization of the soft tissues affected by stress, injury and illness through the use of manual techniques that improve circulation, enhance muscular relaxation, relieve pain, reduce stress, enhance immune function or promote health and well-being.

You don’t need to be injured or in pain to experience massage, it can be used as a tool to help facilitate your general well being. Many people seek massage therapy regularly to help them perform at their best and feel positive about themselves.

An increasing number of clinical research studies show massage reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion and increases endorphins (enhancing medical treatment). Therapeutic massage can also hasten and lead to a more complete recovery from exercise or injury.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

More than ever, people across North America are returning to more natural methods of improving their health. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) focuses on:

  • Health promotion
  • Illness prevention and treatment
  • Natural remedies such as Acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine

The practice of TCM brings together traditional and modern views of health, and eastern and western approaches to health care. TCM has served over a quarter of the world's population for thousands of years and repeated clinical tests have proven its effectiveness in fighting many diseases.

What is Acupuncture?

The term acupuncture describes a family of procedures involving stimulation of anatomical points on the body by a variety of techniques. The acupuncture technique that has been most studied scientifically involves penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by the hands or by electrical stimulation.

What does Acupuncture feel like?

Acupuncture needles are sterile, single use, metallic, solid, and hair-thin. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no, or minimal, discomfort as the needles are inserted. Some people are energized by treatment, while others feel relaxed.

Custom Orthotics

Lack of proper care, ill-fitting shoes and general foot neglect are responsible for the majority of foot problems.  It is important to understand the impact on your body with each step. A small problem in foot function can have a large impact on joints higher up in the body, causing pain and discomfort.

Orthotics and proper shoe fit are very important aspects of foot health.

Remember, if you are experiencing any discomfort inyour ankles, knees or hip joints, the direct cause may be the function of your feet or ill-fitting shoes.

Our Doctors of Chiropractic prescribe custom orthotics to their patients for various symptoms. Many medical conditions often stem from a biomechanical gait abnormality that can be treated with custom orthotics.  Some common ailments related to poor foot biomechanics include:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Morton's Neuroma
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Iliotibial Band Syndrome
  • Runners Knee
  • Sacroiliac Syndrome
